The Mad Rabbit Crew is an inclusive social running group based in Melbourne. We cater for runners of all abilities and backgrounds. Our running club has over 500 community members and 200+ registered athletes. MRC is a registered club with Athletics Victoria and have a panel of accredited running coaches supporting the team with their running development. This year we’ll have over 150 athletes competing at the Melbourne marathon, the biggest participating team by far. It’s all about giving it a go when you’re with us.
Just like the pacers in a running race, we're ahead of the pack and we're a bit crazy. Come run with us and be part of a vibrant, supportive, social, welcoming community that’s got your running journey covered.
To get started, join our Strava Group so you can be notified to participate in our weekly group runs . The following is a summary of our weekly running schedule:
Every Saturday morning, rain, hail, or shine, we join the parkrun at Gardiners Creek
Most important run in marathon training. Separate pace groups with leaders. Followed by customary brunch.
6:30AM, gathered at Doncaster Atheletics Track, we run for the Quality session of the week. Fartlek, Yasso 800, Interval, tempo, etc, the options rotate weekly. Boosting the heart rate, stretching our limits and lots of sweating are our goals. Snacks, donuts, and nutrition supplements are provided occasionally, and professional photographers randomly turn up.
On Thursday night, after work, sometimes the runners gather at the Pllars of Wisdom, for a run along Yarra River and the night view of Melbourne city. A distance of 10-15km is the usual course. This is a casual and relax run after 4 weekdays of work and pre-celebrate the coming Friday.
Each Friday, a group of 7 AM'ers gather at Elgar Park. Running on the soft turf following a pattern of "8" is always the theme. This is a relax run with distance at 10km, 12km or 15km, and an option to extend out to Koonung Creek Trail and back if running on concrete road is preferred.
Every Saturday morning, people from all walks of life come together to connect, to make new friends, to challenge themselves, and to start the weekend on a high. It’s 5km free event for everyone because of the volunteers who give up their valuable time to make it happen every week. We are at Gardiners Creek most of the time for this event, and each year we organise tours to other parkrun spots to gather, experience, and celebrate.
